A 5-year-old girl who was reported missing Monday morning from her Madison hotel room was found unharmed, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The reported disappearance of Naomi Herring prompted a statewide Amber Alert and an extensive search by law enforcement, including helicopter units from the Leon County Sheriff's Office and canine teams from the Florida Department of Corrections.

Deputies were called to the the Deerwood Inn & Madison Campground near Old St. Augustine Road and Interstate 10 around 2 a.m., in response to a report of a missing child, the Madison County Sheriff's Office said in a morning news release.

Investigators were told the girl, Naomi Herring, was last seen around 12:30 a.m. asleep in one of the motel rooms. She was in the company of another child and an adult male.

"At 1:40 a.m., the mother returned to the room and found the room door to be closed but unlocked," the Sheriff's Office said. "Upon entering the room, the remaining occupants were sleeping but Naomi was not inside."

By early afternoon, FDLE announced the girl had been found and the case "resolved." The agency didn't immediately provide any other details.

"The Florida AMBER Alert for 5-year-old Naomi Rose Herring has been resolved," the agency said in a tweet. "The child is safe. Thank you for sharing!  #FLAMBER."
