A medical doctor helped save a 3-year-old boy at a hotel pool in Montvale, N.J. on Saturday, police said.
A family member removed the drowning child from the 3-foot end of the pool at the Courtyard by Marriott on Chestnut Ridge Road, Montvale Police Chief Joseph Sanfilippo said.
Dr. John Blundell, who was visiting New Jersey from the Buffalo, New York area, performed CPR and revived the young boy prior to first responders arriving, Sanfilippo said.
Adding to the incident’s success, Montvale officer Scott Gaston was less than a minute from the scene when it was dispatched and administered oxygen and comfort the boy as other officers also headed to the scene.
The boy was then taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
“(It is) incredibly fortunate that the doctor... was in the right place at the right time,” Sanfilippo said.
