MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – One person died and two others were injured in an overnight shooting at a Fruitport Township hotel.
Officials with the Fruitport Township Police Department said the shooting occurred in the parking lot of Quality Inn & Suites, 1675 E. Sherman Boulevard, around midnight Saturday, June 5.
Investigators have not released any information about the victims or circumstances surrounding the shooting in the ongoing investigation. Nobody is currently in custody. Fruitport Township Public Safety Director Brian Michelli said Saturday, he didn’t have any suspect information to share at this time.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, Norton Shores Police Department, Muskegon Heights Police Department, Muskegon Township Police Department and Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.

The early Saturday morning shooting follows a string of recent gun violence in the Muskegon area.
