One team is making its second straight sectional final appearance. The other is in the title game for the first time in a decade. Monroe County rivals Penfield and Hilton will meet Tuesday to decide the 2021 Section V Class AA Baseball Championship. Here’s the breakdown:

How they got here: Penfield defeated No. 10 Gates-Chili, 6-0, in the quarterfinals before downing three-seeded McQuaid, 1-0, in the semis.
Hilton beat Fairport by a 3-2 score in the quarterfinals and took down top-seeded Webster Schroeder, 3-2, in the semis.

History 101: Penfield is making its second straight sectional final appearance. The Patriots fell to eventual state champion, McQuaid, in the 2019 Class AA title game, 7-1, at Frontier Field. Hilton is making its first sectional final appearance since 2011. As a No. 2 seed in ’11, the Cadets defeated Irondequoit and Spencerport before falling to Victor in the championship.
First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Penfield High School.
