GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The AC Hotel by Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids is putting a new twist on its menu.
The hotel has launched a temporary ‘pop-up’ lounge called La Ventanita that specializes in Spanish and Latin America-inspired food and drinks.
“With the opening of the Latin-inspired pop-up lounge La Ventanita at the AC Lounge, AHC Hospitality wanted to create a new and exciting experience for AC Hotel guests and Grand Rapids locals alike," said Ryan Schmied, the hotel’s general manager.
"To ensure everyone’s safety, we added outdoor seating and are complying with all local and state COVID-related guidelines.”
The new menu includes “small bites” such as ham croquetas and albondigas with sofrito-tomato sauce. There’s also a Cuban-style hamburger with Colombian-style fried potatoes, as well as churros with hot chocolate for dessert.

The 130-room AC Hotel by Marriott, 50 Monroe Ave. NW, opened in June 2019. Built inside a restored 127-year-old building that formerly housed a TGI Fridays and offices, the seven-story hotel has a sleek lobby, with dark-tiled floors, hardwood walls and an Art Deco inspired bar.
The hotel, which is managed by AHC Hospitality, closed this spring during the coronavirus pandemic but reopened on Aug. 1, said spokesperson Alyssa Snyder.
The La Ventanita ‘pop-up’ lounge officially opened on Tuesday, Sept. 15, Snyder said. She said the lounge will be in place “for the foreseeable future.”
