BIRMINGHAM, MI - A posh new hotel could give The Townsend in Birmingham a run for its money when it comes to luxury. Daxton Hotel is now taking reservations for it’s elegant new property set to open this February.
The 151 room hotel is being built on Woodward Avenue just south of Maple. This will be the first hotel for entrepreneur Mark Mitchell, a lifelong Metro Detroit native. It’s also the newest luxury hotel by Aparium Hotel Group, whose resume includes transforming the historic Detroit Fire Department Headquarters into the Foundation Hotel in Downtown Detroit.
“We are excited to show travelers the very best of Michigan and beyond in a market worthy of a world-class hotel,” said Mark Mitchell. “Daxton will set a hospitality standard far beyond the Midwest and it is an absolute privilege to deliver a project that will be an important aspect of Birmingham’s fabric for generations to come.”

Daxton features a minimalist-luxe design with close to 400 pieces of art curated by Saatchi Art. Each guestroom will include at least two custom pieces of artwork from 160 artists representing 32 countries. The rooms will feature everything from paintings and photography to collages, drawings and sculptures. Muralist and Detroiter, Ouizi (Louise Jones), will create the design scrim headboard backdrops.

The hotel will also feature high-end restaurant, Madam, run by Executive Chef Garrison Price. “Madam will feature American fare with an ever evolving menu focusing on seasonality and the freshness emblematic of California cuisine." Before coming to Madam, Price was Executive Chef at il Buco Alimentari e Vineria in Manhattan.
Daxon will also have its own personal trainer on staff in conjunction with Lean Body Studio of Michigan. It will offer a variety of private training sessions, workout classes, and interactive events.

“Daxton will be a global icon,” said Aaron Black, the hotel’s General Manager. “From the highly curated Saatchi artwork, renowned culinary leadership of Chef Garrison, innovative programming, and creative collaborations, Daxton is the unparalleled offering Birmingham has been waiting for.”
Reservations start at $329 per night beginning on February 10, 2021.
