An SUV slammed into the Hotel Captain Cook after a collision in downtown Anchorage early Wednesday, police said.
A black SUV sat near a stone pillar of the hotel at I Street and Fifth Avenue after the collision and a crumpled blue Toyota FJ Cruiser remained in the intersection. Police said in a statement that one of the vehicles caught fire and Anchorage Fire Department was called to extinguish the flames.
No one in the hotel was injured when the SUV hit the building, but police said one person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The northbound lanes of I Street were blocked for hours Wednesday morning as officers investigated but have since been reopened.
