Update 4:44 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 - The Rolling Hills Casino and Resort in Corning has reopened. According to the Tribe's marketing director, Jeff Jantz, the casino was not open at the time of the incident. Jantz said it was an isolated incident and reinforced that there is no threat to the public.

Update 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 - The name of the person who was arrest for attempted murder for the Saturday morning shooting incident has been released by the Tehama County Sheriff's Office.
35-year-old Chico resident John Matthew Justice was arrested for the felony charge and was booked into the Tehama County Jail. Justice was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:33 a.m. at The Lodge at Rolling Hills Casino at 2655 Everett Freeman Way in Corning.
According to the Sheriff's Office Justice, a guest of the hotel, left his room and fired a single shot through the door of a nearby room, striking a man who was inside. The man who was shot was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies. The victim was identified as a male adult who is 36 years old.
Detectives report that they located a small-caliber handgun in Justice's hotel room, which they say they believe is the firearm used in the shooting.
Detectives are actively working on this investigation and further details will be released as they become available and will be included in this story.
Bail was set at $515,000.

Update 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 - According to a spokesperson for Rolling Hills Casino and Resort one person received injuries during the shooting incident on Saturday morning.
That individual was talking and walking on their own, said the spokesperson, so "the injuries were minor given the circumstances."
The Tehama County Sheriff's Office is the agency who took the suspect into custody on Saturday morning.

CORNING, Calif. - Action News Now is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday morning at the North Tower Hotel located on the grounds of the Rolling Hills Casino and Resort.
According to the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, who own and operate the casino and resort, the casino and golf course were immediately locked down after the early morning incident in order to ensure the safety of all guests and team members.
Steve Neely, the General Manager for the casino/resort, said Saturday morning that all of their facilities will slowly reopen once all safety measures have been reinforced.
Action News Now has a reporting out finding out more about what happened. So far we have been told that a suspect was detained by authorities. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released to the public.
Tribal Chairman Andrew "Dru" Alejandre of the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians extended thanks to responders who helped handle the situation at the casino. Responders included the Corning Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and the Tehama County Sheriff's Department.
