A vacant hotel near Bush Intercontinental Airport caught fire Thursday afternoon during a renovation project, according to authorities.
The fire erupted around 3:30 p.m. at the Springwood Suites-IAH in the 15300 block of Vantage Parkway East. No injuries were reported in the fire and the extent of the damage was not known.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said he went to the fire to help with traffic control.
"It appears the hotel is vacant and has been undergoing some renovation work," the sheriff tweeted.
