Mr. McCann, 77, of Marksville, LA. passed from this life on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at his residence in Marksville, LA. with his wife and two daughters by his side.
There are so many things that can be said about this man. He was an amazing husband to his wife of 58 years and the best father to his three children. He was a loved grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law and brother. He never met a stranger and if he did, they fell in love with his whitty charm within minutes. Everyone he met was touched by him and would never forget him.
He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1963 until 1968. He worked for Lloyd Moreau Construction for 25 plus years. He and his family owned Avoyelles Skating Rink and Mac’s Country and Western in Spring Bayou. After that, he worked for Elder Wood Preserving for many years before retiring. He was such a hard worker and continued his construction work until his body was tired.
He taught his children and close family very valuable lessons that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Words can never be enough to explain this man, but if you knew him, and you probably did, then there is nothing more to say. He was a very social man and loved to make others laugh. Without even trying, he made a mark on this world!
You will be greatly missed by all the hearts you touched, but most of all, your close family.
Mr. McCann is preceded in death by his parents, Hilton B. McCann, Sr. (Ellen McCann) and Blanche R. Smigura McCann (Emmeth Baker); sisters, Wanda Schoknecht, Joyce Keneally and Jean Cole.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shirley Carmouche McCann; son, David Wayne McCann (Velma) of CenterPoint, LA.; daughters, Jessica McCann and Melody Scallan both of Marksville, LA.; brother, Roger McCann (Debbie) of Natchitoches, LA.; seven grandchildren, Karlie Stracener, Hailey Scallan, Brayden Brossette, Avarie Nunez, Isabella Brossette, Blanche Fisher and David Bachman. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville, LA.
