Louisville's quickly developing NuLu neighborhood has landed a major hotel company for its newest property.
Hilton hotel's newest brand, Tempo by Hilton, held a groundbreaking Wednesday afternoon for a six-story hotel at 314 S. Shelby Street near East Jefferson Street. The hotel will include 130 rooms, a large lounge with a bar and a rooftop bar.
Projected costs for the project, as well as room rates, were not immediately disclosed.
Launched in mid-January, the Tempo by Hilton lifestyle brand is focused on a "growing segment of 'modern achievers' who seek a hotel experience that reflects their ambition," according to a press release. The brand has established partnerships with experts across the well-being, food and beverage and other lifestyle spheres.

"Tempo by Hilton is the latest example of our unique ability to anticipate what our guests are looking for and deliver unmatched value for customers and owners alike," Hilton president and CEO Christopher Nassetta said in a statement.
The property in NuLu is the very first of Hilton's new brand, with more than 30 additional hotels to come in locations like Boston and Nashville, Tennessee.
The Tempo by Hilton in NuLu will be developed by Weyland Ventures. In addition to this project, the Louisville-based firm is planning to turn three vacant buildings on Baxter Avenue in the Highlands into a new hotel and restaurant.
