A 21-year-old man was shot at a party at a hotel in Christiana early Saturday, according to Delaware State Police.
Police said 18 rounds were fired at the scene from four different caliber weapons. The man, who is from Claymont, suffered gunshot wounds to his back and left arm, police said.
Troopers arrived at the Sonesta Suites at 240 Chapman Road at about 12:25 a.m. for a reported shooting. Before they arrived, others at the scene had already started taking the man to the hospital, police said.
Troopers found the vehicle on its way to the hospital and performed life-saving first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived, police said. The man was then taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of his wounds, police said.

Through an investigation, police determined there had been a party in one of the hotel rooms that led to a shootout in the parking lot of the hotel. There, police said they recovered a Smith and Wesson .38 special revolver.
Police did not share any information regarding a suspect. There were no other reported injuries. The shooting remains under investigation.
