MIKE HILTON
Defensive Back
The Steelers didn't make enough plays in any phase of the game on Monday evening at Heinz Field, and so it was that their winning streak was snapped at 11 in a 23-17 loss to the Washington Football Team. Like everyone else in a Steelers uniform, Mike Hilton didn't play a flawless game, but he did more good than bad.
Hilton finished the game with six tackles, including two for loss, plus a pass defensed. Two of Hilton's tackles came on third downs and prevented the Washington player with the ball from gaining sufficient yardage to earn a fresh set of downs. Then early in the second half, with the Steelers leading, 14-3, Washington decided to go for it on fourth-and-1 from its 34-yard line. The play was a run by J.D. McKissic, and Hilton got into the backfield and tackled him for a 3-yard loss that turned the ball over to the Steelers at the 31-yard line.
Hilton is the Steelers Digest Player of the Week.
Also considered were James Washington, who caught two passes for 80 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown; T.J. Watt, who had six tackles, including two for loss, plus a sack, a forced fumble, and four hits on the quarterback; and Robert Spillane, who had three tackles, including one for loss, plus a sack, two passes defensed, and two hits on the quarterback.
