Hilton (NYSE:HLT) yesterday announced the opening of Canopy by Hilton São Paulo Jardins in Brazil, marking the first Hilton lifestyle brand to launch in South America. True to Canopy by Hilton’s “thoughtfully local” ethos, the new hotel will embrace the robust culture of São Paulo, collaborating with local experts to curate authentic experiences for travelers and locals alike.
“As we continue expanding our portfolio in key destinations throughout Latin America, we are thrilled to introduce a new brand in Brazil,” said Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice president and head of operations, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “Representing our newest addition to the largest city in the country, Canopy by Hilton São Paulo Jardins will provide an authentic experience for travelers visiting this thriving destination and vibrant neighborhood.”
Located 10 minutes from the Museum de Arte de São Paulo, the Ema Gordon Klabin Cultural Foundation and Oscar Freire Street, Canopy São Paulo Jardins is situated within steps from shopping, vibrant nightlife and cultural institutions. The 98-room hotel, owned and developed by Tati Construtora e Incorporadora, features two dining restaurants, a fitness center and two indoor/outdoor meeting spaces.
“São Paulo was a natural choice for launching Hilton’s first lifestyle property in South America given its position among the world's most popular destinations, with numerous museums, rich architectural tradition and award-winning restaurants,” said Phil Cordell, global category head, Hilton lifestyle & global brand head, Canopy by Hilton. “As people begin to travel again, we look forward to welcoming guests to Canopy São Paulo Jardins, which was created as a natural extension of the neighborhood to help visitors relax, recharge and experience the city like a local.”
Rooms
Each room is thoughtfully designed for intuitive comfort with exclusive bedding created just for Canopy, including the brand’s signature canopy frame, as well as a mattress outfitted with support and temperature control. The hotel’s refreshing and pastel-colored accommodations include a living area with sofa bed, bathtub and amenities like Canopy slipper socks.
Food & Beverage
The two on-site food & drink outlets, Barno Rooftop Bar and Stella Restaurant, feature curated cuisine, wine and cocktail menus that are designed with both locals and hotel guests in mind to provide a culinary delight befitting of the bustling neighborhood. Furthering its commitment to immerse guests in the authentic Brazilian lifestyle, guests can enjoy a complimentary Evening Tasting in Canopy Central every night featuring artisanal spirits and bites to instantly immerse travelers in the local fare.
Led by Executive Chef David Kasparian, Stella Restaurant showcases the diverse cultures that have influenced the city’s gastronomy through dishes such as tagliatelle made from hearts of palm and squid served with Dashi, a Japanese broth with Brazilian Yanomami mushrooms. In the evening, guests can sip and enjoy carefully crafted cocktails inspired by the vast natural flavors and Brazilian ingredients at Barno Rooftop Bar, which offers beautiful views of São Paulo with floor-to-ceiling windows.
Design
Developed by architect Maria Magalhães, the hotel common spaces feel rich and welcoming due to the abundance of natural light and the locally inspired palette comprising teal, coral, and earthy leathers. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a lively façade designed by renowned Brazilian street artist Speto, in addition to the one-of-a-kind furniture pieces in the lobby, São Paulo armchair, designed by Pritzker Prize-winner Paulo Mendes and giraffe chairs, by Lina Bo Bardi who developed the Art Museum of São Paulo.
Additional design elements include handcrafted art pieces developed by an Amazonian community exclusively for Canopy São Paulo Jardins, a ceramic mural installed at the reception by Nathalia Favaro and Brazilian landscape murals painted by Marcella Riani.
Meetings and Events
Designed to create event experiences that are clean, flexible, safe and socially responsible, Canopy São Paulo Jardins features Hilton EventReady with CleanStay, a global, industry-leading cleanliness and customer service program specific to meetings and events, that provides curated solutions for every step of the event planning process. The hotel offers two meeting spaces and an open terrace that offers nearly 4,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
