Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has missed the first three games of the season after undergoing a neck procedure during the preseason and is eligible to return from the injured reserve this week.
While Hilton is eligible to return following the three-week requirement, head coach Frank Reich told reporters Monday that the Ghost isn’t quite ready to return from the reserve list despite the progress he’s made.
“T.Y. (Hilton) is making great progress. I’ve talked to him, seen him out there doing his rehab and getting going, and I’m encouraged with what I’ve seen. I’m encouraged with what I’ve seen,” Reich said. “I don’t think we’re quite there yet with him, but really encouraged with the progress he’s making.”
The Colts offense has been lacking explosiveness to open the season. Whether it’s due to the playcalling or the personnel that’s on the field, the Colts could use some veteran savvy like Hilton back on the field.
Hilton seemed to have a pretty solid connection with quarterback Carson Wentz, who continues to play through two sprained ankles. The offensive line is also giving up pressure at an extremely high rate.
It would be nice to have another receiver of Hilton’s talent back in the lineup, but it appears we may be waiting a bit longer to see that.
