Hilton Worldwide is on track to complete nearly 400 hotels this year, according to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, including striking schemes like ROKU Kyoto and Conrad Hotel Nashville.
Our research indicates that Hilton Worldwide is preparing to roll out 389 hotel projects, collectively amounting to 80,092 rooms, this year. We select five of the Virginia-headquartered hospitality company’s most intriguing debuts.
Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club, California
This luxury resort set on the hillside along the coast of Dana Point was unveiled in January 2021 following the conversion of what was previously Monarch Beach Resort, a high-profile scheme bought by Ohana Real Estate Investors in November 2019. This AAA Five-Diamond hotel in Southern California is a welcome addition to the area’s celebrated beachfront community.
Here, 400 guest rooms and suites decorated with a coastal palette are joined by an array of world-class amenities including a private beach club, a pool area featuring two infinity-edge ocean-view whirlpool baths and an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr; a new spa will follow in spring 2021. Drinking and dining venues include Bourbon Steak Orange County and Mediterranean concept Aveo Table + Bar, while events are hosted in the property’s sprawling indoor and outdoor event space, which includes a botanical garden.
ROKU Kyoto, LXR Hotels and Resorts
Thanks to its position in the foothills of the Takagamine mountains of northern Kyoto, this new hotel is within walking distance of famous sites like Kinkaku-ji golden pavilion and Koetsuji temple. The resort is in the wider Shozan Resort Kyoto area encompassing Japanese gardens, traditional Japanese architecture, authentic tea houses and restaurants offering local cuisine.
Operated by Tokyu Resorts & Stays Co, ROKU Kyoto will be the first APAC property for LXR Hotels & Resorts and mark Hilton’s entry into the city. When it opens in late 2021, the 114-room hotel will aim to connect guests with their surroundings through cultural threads woven into every aspect of the hotel experience, from architecture to gastronomy.
Hilton Monterrey Valle Oriente
This forthcoming Hilton hotel is part of a mixed-use development situated at the base of Cerro de la Silla in Monterrey, Mexico. Planned for debut in late 2021, this 202-room luxury hotel will provide direct elevator access to Galerias Valle Oriente and is within minutes of El Palacio de Hierro, the largest department store in Latin America.
Developed by Parks Hospitality Group, the new scheme will showcase the designs of renowned architectural practice HBA International. This property, designed for both business and leisure travellers, will also contribute towards Hilton’s goal of launching its 100th hotel in Mexico in 2022.
The Ray, Florida
The Ray defines itself as a boutique hotel bringing a vibrant new scene to Delray Beach. This property is being developed by Menin Hospitality in collaboration with Hilton Worldwide. Here, the tropical modernist architecture of Gonzalez Architects is punctuated by living walls, rooftop gardens and a collection of large-scale sculptures and art installations.
When the hotel opens in the second quarter of 2021, it’ll incorporate 141 smart guest rooms with balconies, alongside a 20,000 sq ft pool deck, extensive event space and four F&B options – including a neighbourhood coffee shop and a restaurant by celebrated Michelin-starred chef Akira Back. The Ray will be part of the Curio Collection brand.
Conrad Hotel Nashville
The five-star Conrad Hotel Nashville will anchor one of the two towers that make up an exciting mixed-use development at Broadwest, joining an upscale retail offering, high-end residences and premium office space. The hotel will span 14 floors of the 34-storey tower alongside residences, with retail, creative workspace and a plaza joining it to the neighbouring 21-storey office tower.
The project is being developed by Propst Companies Nashville, with help from general contractor Hoar Construction, design firm Cooper Carry and interior designer Champalimaud Design. Through its contemporary decor, service and facilities, this luxurious 237-room scheme aims to appeal to globally connected travellers visiting Nashville. The hotel is due to open in late 2021.
