There were so many trees in Capitola in the early 1900s, that in this view the Grand Hotel Capitola is just barely visible in the distance. The photo looks west, down Capitola Avenue from atop the railroad trestle. The streets and sidewalks do not yet appear to be paved, so the picture probably dates from before 1920.
