Brand overview: More than 150 Hilton-branded hotels in the pipeline [Infographic] - TOPHOTELNEWS

According to the TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database, Hilton Hotels & Resorts will add 154 hotels to its global portfolio in the years ahead, with a strong focus on APAC.

Over the next few years, Hilton Worldwide’s signature brand Hilton Hotels & Resorts will add 154 properties with 44,521 rooms around the world, our research indicates. We take a closer look at its expansion plans.

Hilton openings by year

In 2021, the brand plans to launch 51 hotels with 16,013 rooms – eight properties are currently in the pre-opening phase.

Looking further down the line, 44 more hotels with 11,953 keys are planned for 2022, but things are expected to slow down in 2023, with only 22 properties and 5,849 rooms on the books. For 2024 and beyond, there are currently 37 projects and 10,706 rooms in the works.

Dynamic growth regions for the brand

APAC is by far the brand’s most active region – 80 hotels and 22,574 rooms are already on the development slate here. Interestingly, 55 of these projects have been earmarked for China alone, growing the brand’s offering in the People’s Republic by a staggering 15,080 rooms.

North America is Hilton’s second most dynamic market, with 23 new hotels and 7,335 keys planned to go live soon. Of these, 17 properties and 5,172 keys have been pencilled in for the US.

Hilton’s also growing in Africa, where there are 19 hotels and 4,748 keys on the cards. Elsewhere, the Middle East will see 15 openings with 5,525 rooms, followed by Europe (13 projects and 3,197 keys) and Latin America (four projects and 1,142 keys).

A trio of Hilton’s top projects

Hilton Melbourne Square will open in early 2023 as part of a mixed-use development comprising residential, commercial, speciality retail and 3,700 sq m of parkland. This hotel will be close to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Melbourne Arts Centre. The project will feature 600 rooms, an executive lounge, four F&B outlets – including a rooftop bar and an all-day dining restaurant – a fitness centre, an indoor pool and extensive meetings and events spaces totalling over 2,800 sq m.

In China, meanwhile, Hilton Lijian will soon be nestled above Wenbi Lake and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. This 575-room hotel will be filled with historical and cultural reference points, honouring the heritage of the region it sits within, as well as multiple F&B venues. An opening date of Q3 2021 has been mooted.

On the other side of the globe, Hilton Santiago Las Condes launches in early 2022; the 401-room hotel will form part of the Parque Arauco Kennedy shopping mall complex expansion project. The property will offer two restaurants and three bars, a spa with a heated indoor swimming pool, a terrace on the 30th floor with an outdoor swimming pool, and a sky bar overlooking the city.
