"You know, because I do speak with the voice for the tourism industry, I think what we would say is, we've certainly seen what our communities look like when the hospitality industry is impacted, when the places we stay or the visitors come to stay, or visitors come to eat, our entertainment venues...When those lights are dark, it impacts a community. Prior to the pandemic, the travel and hospitality industry in this MSA was the third largest industry in our area. COVID impacted us tremendously. Jobs were lost, some businesses closed, and we've now fallen to the fifth largest industry out of the industries here."
