Ladd travels around the country helping active duty military, veterans and first responders who suffer with post-traumatic stress disorder, suicidal thoughts or addiction.

"A lot of times they feel like there is nobody,” Ladd explained. “And we are here to show them that there is so much support out there for them. It's just that we all need to know that they need help. We need to smash the stigma. They need to reach out and ask for help. As soon as they do that we jump in and help them."

The freedom feast had a pig roast, silent auction, games, face painting and a raffle.

Ladd says they will use funds from the event to provide veterans with resources on dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

"We are raising money so we could build more of these tool boxes,” said Ladd. “And also it's just a way for them to talk about privately no judgement. This is a no judgement zone."

Trombley says she has firsthand experience of what National Veterans Resources offers.

"She came to see me when I was struggling,” said Trombley. “She helped me organize and get into the therapy that I needed, because my PTSD was constantly being triggered and I couldn't emotionally stabilize myself. And I needed the help and she found it for me. Ever since then, I just support here in what she does."

Ladd hopes all local veterans understand that they don't have go through their struggles alone.

"The men and women that protect and serve us need to know that we really care about them,” said Ladd. “We need to tell that they are not alone. So all of those different organizations are coming together to let the service members, veterans, first responders know that we care about them so much."
