Paris Hilton was born rich, but the infamous heiress to the Hilton hotel empire swears she’s self-made.
“Ever since I was a teenager, I wanted to be independent. I didn’t want to have to ask my family for anything,” she told Refinery 29 in 2018. “Yes, I came from Hilton hotels, but I’ve parlayed it into such a huge business that even my grandfather said to me, ‘I used to be known as Barron Hilton. Now I’m known as Paris Hilton’s grandfather.’”
She added, “I think any woman who is going to get into business and be an entrepreneur and make a big name and brand for themselves, they are self-made.”
In a way, she may be right: As one of the few socialites to break through to mainstream fame and become a household name simply by being herself, Hilton has not only generated her own celebrity, she’s also generated her own income. She may need it, too: In 2007, grandfather Barron announced he was donating 97% of his $4.5 billion fortune to charity, with some reports alleging it was because he was embarrassed at Paris’ public conduct, which has included accusations of homophobia, classism, anti-Semitism and racism, plus a rap sheet that landed her (briefly) behind bars. After his death in September 2019, multiple outlets reported that Barron kept his promise and only doled out $5.6 million apiece to his relatives—and that he may have cut out Paris entirely.
Whether or not Paris can bank on her family’s fortune, she’s still filthy rich. Here’s what we know about Paris Hilton’s net worth.
What is Paris Hilton’s net worth?
Paris Hilton‘s net worth is estimated to be $300 million.
How much does Paris Hilton make from branding?
Hilton has 19 different product lines that reportedly earn her a cool $10 million per year. Her name’s on everything from retail shops (about 50 so far around the world) to real estate, handbags, shoes, supplements and flowers. She’s even a proponent of NFTs and is working on a virtual reality program that she’s called the “future of social media.” More famously, Hilton has appeared in two commercials for Carl’s Jr restaurants.
Despite all those deals, Hilton is actually choosy about the companies she partners with. Her manager has said that Hilton turns down anywhere between 12 and 20 brand partnerships every single day.
How much does Paris Hilton make from trademarks on her catchphrases?
Hilton has trademarked “That’s hot” and “sliving” (a combination of “slaying” and “living”). The first one, which she made famous from her days on the reality series The Simple Life, has at least netted her some cash in court: In 2007, the same year her “That’s hot” trademark request was approved, she sued Hallmark for printing the phrase on one of their greetings cards alongside her picture. Three years later, the suit was reportedly settled in Hilton’s favor.

How much did Paris Hilton make from her sex tape?
In 2001, when Hilton was 19 years old, she was a victim of revenge porn when her ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon sold an intimate video that he titled 1 Night In Paris. The tape was released in 2004 without Hilton’s knowledge or consent.
Hilton recently said of the tape and its release, “That was just the most painful experience. It made me really lose faith in love and trust and men and it just really breaks my heart that for the rest of my life I’m going to be judged on a private moment between two people that no one was ever supposed to see.”
Hilton and Salomon entered a long legal battle over the tape, with Salomon accusing Hilton of defamation for saying he released it without her consent and Hilton suing the distributor for invasion of privacy. In the end, the matter was settled out of court, with Hilton being awarded a percentage of the tape’s profits as well as a flat payment of $400,000. However, in 2013, Hilton denied making a penny from the sex tape, insisting, “[I] never made a dollar. I make enough money in nice ways. My fragrance [brand] makes enough, I don’t need to worry about that.”

How much has Paris Hilton made from reality TV?
From 2003 to 2007, Hilton and then-BFF Nicole Richie starred in The Simple Life, which depicted their adventures living without the wealth and privilege to which they were accustomed. The show, which featured Richie and Hilton working as farmers, camp counselors and fast-food employees, was an instant smash and lasted for five seasons. In 2005, it was reported that Hilton pocketed a cool $5 million for a single season of the show—a figure far higher than what Richie was offered, which may be one reason why the onetime besties ultimately drifted apart.
In 2008, as a not-so-subtle acknowledgment of her falling out with Richie, Hilton starred in another reality show, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF. The show, which aired on MTV, saw contestants compete in challenges to be Hilton’s new plus-one. The series lasted two seasons and had two international spinoffs, Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend and Paris Hilton’s Dubai BFF, which each lasted a single season.
The World According to Paris was released in 2011 on Oxygen, focusing on the heiress’ life after prison, opening with her community service from her Las Vegas arrest. The eight-episode series, of which Hilton was also an executive producer, lasted a single season.
While her salaries for those series aren’t publicly known, we do know she made a whopping $300,000 to appear in just four episodes of the Danish version of Paradise Hotel in 2013, so it’s safe to assume her other paydays were pretty hefty.

Hilton launched her own label, Heiress Records, as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records, and released her 2006 debut album under the imprint. The album, Paris, sold 200,000 copies and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, largely carried by the irresistibly catchy single “Stars Are Blind,” which hit No. 18 on the Hot 100.
The song wasn’t released without controversy, however: Sparta Florida Music Group sued Hilton and the label, accusing them of plagiarizing parts of the 1970 hit song “Kingston Town,” made popular by UB40 in 1989. (UB40 were at first inaccurately reported as suing Hilton. They never did!)
Paris was the only full-length album Hilton ever released, but she’s also dropped nine other promotional singles and was signed to Cash Money Records. She somewhat recently dropped a collaboration with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, “B.F.A. (Best Friend’s Ass),” the music video for which featured her BFF (and former closet organizer) Kim Kardashian. None of Hilton’s singles besides “Stars Are Blind” have charted on the Hot 100, though some have placements on foreign and electronic/dance charts.
