A developer is forging ahead with a plan for a pair of restaurants, a hotel and apartments despite economic uncertainties prompted by the Coronavirus.
The development planned on 40 acres of property located at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Lake Ella Road in Lady Lake was the subject of a presentation Monday night before the Lady Lake Planning and Zoning Board.
The conceptual plan indicates seven five-story buildings will be condominiums and apartments, two 6,000-square-foot buildings will be restaurants and there will be a five-story hotel. The property will also include a recreation center and community pool.
Engineer David Springstead, representing the developer, said the first phase of the development would include the hotel and restaurants.
“We want to begin fairly soon,” Springstead told the Planning & Zoning Board members.
The second phase would begin “nine to 12 months later” and would include the apartments and condominiums, Springstead said.
Planning and Zoning Board members expressed concerns about the impact the development would have on traffic.
Springstead said a traffic impact analysis is “in the works.”
