A Hilton-branded waterfront hotel with 339 rooms and multiple F&B venues will sit alongside a giant indoor arena development in one of Japan’s biggest cities.

The much-anticipated Hilton Yokohama scheme promises to provide an appealing accommodation option for concertgoers.

Hilton’s Yokohama debut

Hilton Worldwide has entered into a franchise agreement with Ken Corporation for the opening of Hilton Yokohama in the Minato Mirai 21 area of the city in autumn 2023. The plot, just 20 km from Haneda Airport and a 10-minute walk from Yokohama station, provides easy access to the city, as well as Tokyo and Kamakura.

This hotel will be part of Ken Corporation’s ambitious K-Arena mixed-use development. Named Music Terrace, the project site will also feature one of the world’s largest music venues, the 20,000-seater K-Arena Yokohama, and the K-Tower Yokohama office building.

Guy Phillips, senior vice president of development in Asia and Australasia for Hilton, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Ken Corporation with the signing of Hilton Yokohama following many years of shared success with Hilton Guam Resort & Spa.

“Appealing to both leisure and business travellers, Yokohama is home to a number of manufacturing companies and R&D hubs, plays host to international conferences, and corporate events and leisure options in the destination are aplenty with opportunities for sightseeing, entertainment, and dining. Our strong partnership, building on the expertise of Ken Corporation, as well as the strength of Hilton’s commercial engine, will enable us to offer world-class services for guests visiting Yokohama when it opens in two years.”

A major new development

The hotel will comprise 339 guestrooms, a fitness centre, an executive lounge, meeting spaces and various dining options, including an all-day dining venue, specialty restaurant and café and bar lounge.

“We are delighted to welcome Hilton, a global leader in the industry, to Yokohama and the ‘K-Arena’ project,” said Shigeru Sato, CEO of Ken Corporation. “We’re confident that the Hilton Yokohama will serve as a key driver to Yokohama’s future growth and urban development, which will include the world’s largest concert hall.

“Situated conveniently near the railway station and office districts, the hotel offers a new destination for domestic and international guests to socialise and enjoy their time, all against a magnificent waterfront backdrop.”
