The Royal River Casino and Hotel will reopen later this week after being closed for nearly two months.
The casino, operated by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, will open to the public at 8 a.m. on May 29, with safety measures that include testing all staff members for COVID-19.
That testing will begin on May 28, according to a release from the casino, and is one of several plans implemented by the tribe's COVID-19 task force.
Those include things like slot machines and restaurant tables being arranged to separate groups of people by at least six feet, increased sanitation of communal areas, and masks and gloves offered to all visitors.
Not everything is back open — the pool, spa and convention spaces are still closed, and table games are reopening "on a limited basis," with chairs removed and at least every other table out of service.
"We are excited to be welcoming our guests back," said Senior Director of Operations Tim Morrisey, "and ensuring they feel confident in the protocols we implemented to provide a clean and safe casino experience."
More information on the casino's reopening can be found at their website.
