WESTPORT — Westport Police arrested three people and seized a large amount of fentanyl after one person was found to have 65 bags of the drug on her person and another had 317 bags “excreted from his person,” according to police.
In a release, Westport Police say that on Friday, April 9 at approximately 2:30 a.m., Officer Jarrod Levesque observed an SUV parked in the parking lot of the Towne Place Suites at 41 Old Bedford Road, occupying two spots with the interior light on.
The two people inside the vehicle – Alysa Bruno, 28, and Jonathan Teixeira, 32, both of Fall River – were startled when Levesque approached the vehicle, police said. The two then made their way into the hotel, where another woman opened the door for them.
Investigation revealed that woman to be Sonja Matson, 36, of Fall River. Police say Matson had two active warrants for her arrest and inquired as to which room she was staying in. Police arrived at the room and Teixeira answered the door and invited officers in. They say Bruno was sitting on the floor by the bed and that Matson was found to be hiding in the bathroom. She then told police the warrants had been taken care of, providing invalid paperwork to the officers.
Police say while reviewing the paperwork, they observed in plain view a crack pipe on the floor beside Bruno, along with an empty packet of drugs. They also observed additional drug paraphernalia along with suspected fentanyl in a spoon ready to be injected, along with a syringe.
According to police, when questioning the three about the drugs, all three denied they belonged to them. Officers then searched the room and found additional drugs, and a search of Matson’s person revealed another 65 bags of suspected fentanyl.
Police also say that during booking, they discovered that Teixeira had given officers his brother’s name and date of birth rather than his own because he had three active warrants for his arrest in Massachusetts, and one in Rhode Island. They also say that he was transported to Fall River Justice Center, where 317 bags of drugs were seized when “it was excreted from his person.”
Matson was charged with possession of a Class A drug; possession of a Class B drug; possession of a Class C drug; possession of a Class E drug; conspiracy to violate drug laws; and on two warrants.
Bruno was charged with possession of a Class A drug; possession of a Class B drug; possession of a Class C drug; possession of a Class E drug; and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Teixeira was charged with possession of a Class A drug, subsequent offense; possession of a Class B drug; possession of a Class C drug; possession of a Class E drug; conspiracy to violate drug laws; giving false information to law enforcement; being a fugitive from justice; and on three Massachusetts warrants and one Rhode Island warrant.
